Artist Statement

Stuart has a strong passionate belief that art & creativity invokes & develops happy, spontaneous & emotionally intelligent behaviour in children & opens doorways to realise their hopes, dreams & aspirations.

He is a qualified teacher with 15 years experience working with children including Special needs, refugees & gifted & talented. He has a very strong & engaging personality that kids love – inspiring a trust and respect that has produced some fantastic results.

With a degree in engineering his career path has been anything but conventional encompassing activities as diverse as a sell out comedy hypnotism show at the Edinburgh Fringe, running his own graphic/ multimedia design business during the dotcom boom and regularly performing improvised comedy. He has extensive experience in community arts and was a founding member of Artists in Exile. An arts organisation for refugees which had the most successful opening night for an art show in Riverside Studios history.

His visual art work is multidisciplinary, encompassing claymation, graffiti & murals, digital art & animation, mask making & traditional drawing & painting.
