Statement
I
have always been interdisciplinary and I work internationally in
both the visual and performing art fields. Many of my projects and
commissions cross boundaries, often involving both visual and performing
arts. The international dimension is important to me. I work with
artists, musicians and dancers in many countries, looking at the
similarities and differences in our cultures.
Much
of my work is inspired by my background in science (BSc Environmental
Science, MPhil) and industry. In particular, geology, chemistry
and biology are common subjects.
The
sea provides a strong inspiration and I am able to build upon my
experiences sailing across the Atlantic.
More
recently I have been making sound and visual works concerned with
the landscape and wildlife around my home near Painswick
I am
an experienced communicator and have provided workshops, training
and residencies in hundreds of schools and communities since 1993.
Recent
projects include:-
Jurassic
FM – Oral history residency in Bridport primary schools
Highnam Dreamtime – Primary School environment/Aboriginal
week
Mum & Tuk – Anglo Barbados music and dance – Shrewsbury
Open Space – Ambient sound installation - Stroud
