Workshops for Ages

All ages

Workshops Offered

Felt making – form simple felt making suitable for all ages to ‘nuno’ felting (felting wool into other fibres, such as muslin, scrim and chiffon), which is more suitable for older children and adults.

Three dimensional work – using paper, card, wire, found objects, mod roc, textiles, beads etc. Examples would be my ‘Birds of Paradise’ string puppet workshop and ‘In the balance’, where children explore movement and use of a counter balance to create a hand held balancing sculpture.

All aspects of hand built and wheel thrown ceramics. Clay is ideal for outside sculptural pieces and can be combined with other materials.

Experimental textiles – printing – resist dyeing (including tie dye, paste resist and batik)

Specialize in textile work inspired by traditional techniques from around the world – especially Indian and African textile design.

Artist Statement

I have been offering courses and day workshops to adults and young people for many years and I feel I have built up expertise in my subject area – art and design.

I have kept up-to-date with developments in the education of young people through the National Curriculum and in how and what children like to learn.

I have continued to develop my own skills – moving from ceramics to textiles – and am now developing, in my own work, a fusion of the two areas, which enables me to stay enthusiastic when encouraging learners to develop their own design work.

I believe passionately in the benefits of inclusive learning and work hard to remove barriers that may make inclusive learning difficult.
