Workshops for Ages

Will work with any age

Workshops Offered

The workshops I tend to deliver are collaborative, whole group projects in areas such as

• Textiles - experimental, stitch, beads, threading, wire, print
• Mosaic – individual or collaborative projects
• Mural – either as a project with groups or as a commission
or
• One-off workshops in a variety of mixed media such as paper mache, paint techniques, sculpture, batik etc, which are perfect for after school clubs or for identified groups such as CAF funded pupils.

Workshops can be tailor-made to the needs of the group and I always enjoy the challenge of adapting my skills.
Links can be made to the curriculum and to other artists, both contemporary and throughout history. Wherever possible, I use recycled materials in my workshops, sourcing items from the local resource centre and charity shops.

Artist Statement

Engaging in an art activity is far more than just making a beautiful
end product. It develops a wide range of other skills such as self-expression, emotional well being, expands vocabulary, increases an understanding of other cultures and helps problem solve. But above all, it's fun!

Based in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire, I have gained over 15 years experience working with children and young people in a creative environment. I gained a degree in Fashion & Textiles in 1994, and then went on to complete teacher training, specialising in secondary art & design. I have since coordinated and delivered a variety of visual arts workshops and projects to primary, secondary and special schools, plus at local festivals and visitor centres. I have also delivered workshops for several organisations including, Cinderford Artspace, Real Ideas Organisation (RIO), the Forestry Commission and the Sculpture Trust.

I am committed to providing young people of all ages and abilities creative opportunities to explore, respond and develop ideas of their own. I am experienced in delivering a variety of visual art forms, including textile, mural, mosaic, environmental art, sculpture, painting, drawing and other 2d and 3d work.

In addition, I am an Arts Award Advisor and, to date, have supported over forty young people to successfully gain an Arts Award, at bronze, silver and gold levels.
