Workshops for Ages

I work with all age groups

Workshops Offered

I offer a pottery workshop that can be linked to any subject within the National Curriculum such as geography, history or literacy. I am happy to work independently or with the class teacher, to create an interesting, appropriate and imaginative lesson.

Children and adults love the tactile and immediate qualities of clay so I feel it is important that they have the opportunity to create something personal and expressive.

I teach by demonstrating the techniques the children need to know to make their model, vessel or tile. During the work shop, I work with children on an individual level but I may stop the class as a whole to reinforce a particular point.

Artist Statement

I have been a practicing artist all my working life and have taught in a variety of schools and colleges in Essex and Gloucestershire.

I studied printed textiles at college but for 15 years I produced my own range of ceramics from my home studio.

Before I begin a project, I spend time producing strong, imaginative drawings from life, mainly landscapes and various natural objects.

I like to mix media and at the moment I paint landscapes on wood using oils, and I also make glass and wood installations.
