Mosaic Artist

Workshops for Ages

Infants, Juniors, Secondary, 16+ and Adults

Workshops Offered

Mosaics – from small individual pieces to large group projects, including 3D.

I run workshops in established colleges, craft centres, schools and in my own studio. The workshops vary considerably, depending on the ages and abilities of students.

A choice of projects can include mosaic on pieces of MDF, plywood, paving slabs and on 3D work (eg applying mosaic design to an existing object).

Small, individual pieces are simple and quick for Years 3&4 to design and complete, eg as part of the National Curriculum ‘Romans’ topic.

Bigger projects fit in well with arts-and-activities weeks in schools.

The mosaic pieces (tesserae) will be glass, ceramic, porcelaine or other objects found or recycled (eg old crockery). The choice of materials will depend on whether the work will eventually be used indoors/outdoors.

Artist Statement

My interest in mosaic started 7 years ago and although, at first, it was just a hobby, it has developed into a ‘proper’ job with many different projects and opportunities opening up to me.

My work now is very varied. For example, as well as teaching in schools, I lead workshops for organisations such as The National Trust and established craft centres, and also in my own studio.

My commission includes private and commercial clients – the work ranging from coats of arms and logos to individual, bespoke designs! Trying to match the ideas of the customer with what is possible to translate into a mosaic design can be challenging and very satisfying.
