Artist Statement

Juins Stevens is a multi-media artist from the Forest of Dean. Her formal training at Carmarthen College of Art and Design centred on sculptural ceramics and glasswork. But Juins’ creative curiosity has led her to experiment with a huge range of other materials including recycled metal, especially copper.

One of her greatest skills is to create beautiful art from items which have been discarded. Juins' greatest inspiration is organic forms that are especially abundant in the Forest of Dean and Severn Estuary -- the landscape she grew up in.

Juins has worked in Community Arts projects for five years, sharing her skills and talents with children in schools and art clubs. Some of her most rewarding work has been with youngsters and adults facing special challenges in their lives.

Her teaching programme includes instructing students in the creative use of ceramics, multi-media sculpture, felt making, jewellery making and many others.

Juins lives in the village of Blakeney with her husband and two teenaged daughters
