Artist Statement

I learnt dancing when I was very young. I have learnt several styles of dance and I find that the Bhangra style of dance very popular with all ages. The music is very lively and joyful.

Bhangra dance originated in the Punjab region of India. I teach basic traditional dance steps and also encourage the dancers to be creative in putting their own styles and personalities into the dance.

I work with Under 5s, Infants and Juniors. I support school and classroom projects on India and hold dance workshops for Arts week and Multi-cultural week as well as for Festivals. I am also happy to work with special needs and give everyone an experience of Indian Dance and music to gain a sense of pride and achievement as well as having lots of fun.

Bhangra Dance is performed at festivals, weddings and other social occasions of importance. Bhangra Dance is a popular, lively dance. It is associated with the ripening of the harvest. There is no greater joy for a farmer than to see his crop turning golden and the stalks heavy with grain.
